Flying Fifteen Fleet
Close class racing, in a fast, hiking boat, which planes downwind, but allows dry self-righting.
The fleet is a good-humoured, enthusiastic, multi-aged group, who enjoy racing and offering help to newcomers. The fleet is one of the biggest at the club and regularly has 10 boats out on a Sunday, social events, prize givings, the annual Fleet Championships and Open Meetings.
They are well sorted, rugged, long lasting boats, which can be competitive for very long periods and, you don’t capsize! Older boats can be purchased for not very much and still be competitive.
There are separate “old” boat categories for hull numbers under 2700 (Classics) and under 3400 (Silvers) – and these boats can be picked up in a healthy second-hand market on the class website.
Draycote has one of the largest F15 fleets in the country.
